FEDERAL INSECTICIDE, FUNGICIDE, AND RODENTICIDE ACT (FIFRA)

- this act requires the federal regulation of pesticide distribution, sale, and use
- EPA's role
- register all pesticides distributed or sold in the US
- before registration
- the applicant must show the pesticide "will not generally cause unreasonable adverse effects on the environment" (U.S. Environment Protection Agency, 2008)
- any reasonable risk to man or the environment
- a human dietary risk
